Meet The Specialists
Gabrielle Muñoz, M.A. received her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University, where she is currently completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She majored in Applied Psychology and minored in Spanish at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Gabrielle’s clinical experience includes working in an outpatient unit in a psychiatric hospital, community mental health center, private practice, substance-abuse outpatient center, and pediatric therapy centers. She has worked with diverse children, adolescents, and adults in various formats, including individual therapy, art therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and applied behavioral analysis therapy in-clinic and in-home. Throughout these experiences, Gabrielle has learned how to value and empower the intersectional identities of her clients while appreciating the needs and culture of each client and family.
Gabrielle prioritizes creating and sustaining a safe, inclusive, and culturally sensitive environment where clients and families feel safe, supported, and respected throughout treatment. Gabrielle also values strengthening the working alliance with clients and collaborating with clients and families, so their needs can feel heard, acknowledged, and understood for creating and working towards achieving treatment goals. Gabrielle’s approach to treatment draws from a range of evidence-based models, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Self-Compassion Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy to tailor treatment to clients’ specific needs. She uses a strengths-based, motivational, intersectional, and eclectic approach to meet the clients where they are at, to celebrate their successes throughout treatment, and to meaningfully teach them skills to address areas of potential growth.
Gabrielle is passionate about helping individuals, families, and groups develop skills to enhance their quality of life and overcome a range of emotional, behavioral, social, and health concerns. She has worked with diverse clinical issues, including ADHD, ASD, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, insomnia, acculturation difficulties, chronic pain conditions, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and identity development issues. Gabrielle values connecting with clients in a special, creative way and values enhancing their sense of power in treatment through intermittent check-ins on their satisfaction and receptiveness to treatment. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her labradoodle named Honey, running by the lake, painting, practicing meditation, going to music concerts, skiing, and traveling.
