Meet The Specialists
Don holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and a Specialist degree in School Psychology from Illinois State University. He comes to Myket and Associates with over thirty years of experience in hospitals, private practice settings, and the public school system. He has extensive experience as a college instructor in psychology courses. He has provided psychological evaluations to children, teens, adults, and seniors. He has also counseled children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
Don looks at assessment and therapy as a learning process. In both settings, he hopes to help individuals identify their strengths and challenges, and see their potential for growth and development.
His professional interests center around anxiety, depression, executive functioning / dysfunction, conflict management, learning disabilities, and relaxation / stress management. Don also provides parent consultation and support for families regarding school concerns and understanding the school system.
Working from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, Don believes that one’s perspective and ability to work within themselves shapes their life satisfaction. He uses his lifetime of experience, humor, story telling, and “tell it like it is” approach to help clients better navigate the ups and downs of life.
In his free time, Don enjoys movies, reading, music, golf, being with family, and his two dogs. He also is a big trivia fan and enjoys learning obscure things and finding out the “backstory ” of many historical / cultural events and legends.
