Meet The Specialists
Dr. Brendan Hendrick received his Ph.D in School Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He holds an M.A. in Teaching from National-Louis University after completing a B.F.A. in Theatre Design from Illinois Wesleyan University. While finishing his dissertation, Dr. Hendrick completed APA-accredited pre- and post-doctoral internships with Guilford County Public Schools in North Carolina. More recently, he completed additional clinical post-doctoral training with Good Therapy Counseling in Naperville.
During his years as a school psychologist in North Carolina and Illinois, he specialized in low-incidence disability and neurodevelopmental disorders as well as learning disabilities, school refusal, and behavioral disorders. He has broad expertise in learning disability intervention, including Orton-Gillingham Level 1 training. Additionally, Dr. Hendrick is an adjunct professor of Math Intervention in the Department of Special Education at Lehigh University.
As a clinician and diagnostician, Dr. Hendrick prioritizes rigorous standards of assessment and evaluation, all while maintaining his passionate advocacy for mental health inclusivity. He has experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations across various age groups and demographics, including extensive training in autism spectrum disorder diagnosis. Dr. Hendrick believes strongly in the limits of any one“label” or diagnosis, and emphasizes a holistic approach wherever possible. His approach to intervention is multi-modal, combining approaches from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and trauma-informed therapies. Dr. Hendrick is always keen on working with family and/or school stakeholders for the best outcomes for his clients.
Outside of work, Dr. Brendan has been known to roller skate, bike, or hike around the great outdoors. He delights in hosting dinners, live theatre, and traveling with his wife, Noel, in search of the world’s best pizza.
