How do I get started and make an appointment?
Simply call our office, press 1 and leave a message stating that you would like to schedule a first time appointment. You will be contacted by our Intake Coordinator who will gather some initial intake information. Insurance information will be discussed as well as a suitable therapist who could most effectively meet your needs.
How long does it take to get a first time appointment?
Following the initial intake call, a specialist will call you within 48 hours. Each of our specialists manage their own schedules, but they will try very hard to schedule an appointment with you within a week of your first call. Because of the great need for our specialized services, there are certain times of the year when we have a wait list. If we have a wait list,we will do our best to give you an accurate assessment of your wait time. Since many of our clients want to be seen after school and in the evenings, flexibility in daytime and day of week availability will increase your chances of a faster match with a clinician. Many families ask if we can “just squeeze them in for an initial visit right away”, we believe that in order to provide the best continuity of care and treatment it is our preferred practice to wait to schedule an initial appointment until we have a regular, weekly spot available for your family. That being said, we try to accommodate time-sensitive, urgent needs whenever possible and are often available for same/next day crisis interventions when medically needed.
How do I communicate with my therapist?
When you call the Intake department (630-355-9002 ext.1), the staff will verbally ask if you would like to receive text messages, phone calls, and voicemails regarding appointments and paperwork from both administration and your therapist. At which time, the staff member will check the option in our Therapy Notes Portal.
The conversation is typically as follows:

How long are psychotherapy sessions?
Individual and family therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes. Group therapies are 45 – 90 minutes depending on the services being provided.
What are your hours?
Specialists schedule their own appointment times which can include evenings and Saturday hours. Our office is usually open 9am to 9pm Monday – Friday.
Do you treat children, and if so, will I be able to see the therapist with my child at the first session?
All of the specialists in our practice have in depth training & experience in providing psychotherapy services for children and adolescents. When scheduling the first appointment, the specialist will determine who is most appropriate to be seen in the initial session. We believe parental involvement is an important aspect of a successful therapy experience. Parents are typically included in a short portion of each session.
Do you offer testing services?
We provide the full range of psychological and neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents and adults.
How do you deal with a client’s religious beliefs?
We realize how deeply personal and often relevant one’s faith tradition and spiritual journey are to therapeutic work. While we may inquire about this aspect of a client’s life, it would only be a focus of the therapy if the client so desired. We are dedicated to working with clients from many different faith traditions.
Do you accept credit cards?
We accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.
Will my insurance pay for my treatment?
Coverage for services depends on your insurance plan. Many plans provide some coverage for psychological services, but there is a great variety in terms of deductibles, co-pays, and number of sessions allowed per year.
Please contact your insurance company or employer directly to inquire about the specifics of your insurance plan benefits for outpatient mental healthcare. When asking about your coverage you should address the following questions:
- Are my benefits considered in-network or out-of-network for Susan Myket, PhD & Associates?
- How much of my deductible has been met? What is my co-pay/co-insurance for Susan Myket, PhD & Associates? Do I need preauthorization?
- Are there any diagnoses not covered?
- Does my plan cover Family Therapy? Psychological Assessment?
Will you bill my insurance company or do I have to send in claims?
Our billing department will files claims with most insurance companies. We are in-network with BCBS PPOs. We are an out-of-network provider for many other insurance companies. We do not currently accept Medicare, Medicaid, All Kids, etc.
Are you on my insurance panel?
We are in-network with BCBS PPOs. We are an out-of-network provider for all other insurance companies. You are strongly encouraged to contact your insurance company by phone as soon as possible before your first visit to obtain any required pre-authorization and so that you will have a clear idea of how much your insurance will cover and how much you will be responsible to pay. If we are out-of-network for your insurance company, you are responsible to pay the difference between the insurance benefits (could range between 0% – 100%) and our full rates. (Please note that each insurance plan sets it’s own reimbursement rates for services and base their coverage on those rates. For example, your insurance company may tell you that you have 100% coverage for out-of-network care but their reasonable rate for individual therapy is less than our rate. So even though you have 100% coverage, you will still be responsible to pay us the difference between their reasonable rate and our actual rate.)
Do you have a reduced or sliding scale fee for clients?
Our various group sessions are billed at a lower rate than individual sessions, even if the client not in-network. If you are in need of a sliding scale fee arrangement for individual sessions, we can refer you to other agencies that may be able to assist you.
