Pei-Shan Yu earned her Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Education and holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, Pei-Shan has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and families, addressing a broad spectrum of mental health issues, including Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Schizophrenia.
Her expertise extends to child behavioral and mood-related issues such as Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Pei-Shan also specializes in additional areas like anger management, academic problems, peer relationships, behavioral issues, school refusal, grief and loss, social skills, acculturation difficulties, low self-esteem, parent-child relationship issues, personal history of self-harm, stress management, and phase of life issues.
At Dr. Myket & Associates, Pei-Shan integrates evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy, and unique expressive art therapies like origami. She is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming environment where clients feel supported in navigating their personal growth and mental health challenges. She is also fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese.
Outside of her clinical work, Pei-Shan enjoys drawing, painting, cooking, playing piano and flute, and spending time in nature. She is passionate about fostering healing and helping her clients reach their full potential.
