Meet The Specialists
Lauren Hauck is a graduate student at Northern Illinois University pursuing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology, with an emphasis on children and families. Prior to attending NIU, Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Statistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (go Illini!). She went on to earn her master’s degree in clinical psychology at NIU. Lauren has previously worked at a community mental health center, a specialty clinic for anxiety disorders, and a university psychological services center where she has provided a broad range of individual and group therapy services for children and adults, including intensive exposure treatment, social skills training, parent-child interaction therapy, and school consultations as well as conducted comprehensive psychological assessments, including working within a multidisciplinary team to assess developmental disorders such as Autism.
Lauren is enthusiastic about providing clients with evidence-based treatment that is tailored to each individual’s unique needs. She is goal-oriented and seeks to meet her clients with empathy and compassion. Lauren works primarily from a cognitive-behavioral framework, utilizing Acceptance and Commitment and Cognitive-Behavioral interventions, and she is especially passionate about incorporating her clients’ broader systems into treatment, which may include families, schools, and other community supports.
Lauren is excited to be returning to Susan Myket, Ph.D. & Associates this year, as she has helped facilitate multiple therapy groups at the practice in the past. Her research is aimed at understanding familial contributions to children’s well-being in underexplored domains. For example, her dissertation will examine family influences on homeschooled children’s academic and socioemotional adjustment. For leisure, Lauren enjoys spending time outside with her family and friends. She also loves to play volleyball and basketball, and is nearly always swimming, biking, or running as she trains for local triathlons!
