Meet The Specialists
Dr. Karyn Brasky Kozy, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and her B.A. from Northwestern University. She completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Minnesota Medical School with a focus on clinical child/adolescent psychology and pediatric neuropsychology. Dr. Kozy specializes in treating children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, mood disorders (including adolescent depression), attention and behavior problems, school-related issues, and adjustment to medical conditions or family stressors. She has worked with children, adolescents, and young adults in a variety of settings including hospitals, university-affiliated outpatient clinics, schools, community mental health centers, and private practice.
Dr. Kozy’s approach to therapy incorporates ongoing assessment, progress monitoring, and research-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and parent management training. In terms of assessment, Dr. Kozy has experience conducting comprehensive psychological assessments for children with attention and learning disorders, social and emotional difficulties, and medical conditions. Her research interests include examining risk and protective factors in the development of anxiety and mood disorders in young children. In her free time, Dr. Kozy enjoys biking, running, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
