Meet The Specialists

Darcy Wexelbaum, LCPC

Darcy Wexelbaum is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.  She graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stout in 1999, with honors in Human Development and Family Studies, double minors in Psychology and Sociology, and a focus on Adolescent Crisis Intervention.  Darcy received her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology – Chicago.  Darcy worked at the child and adolescent inpatient psychiatric units of Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Linden Oaks Hospital (LOH) at Edward in Naperville. She also provided services in the partial and intensive outpatient programs at LOH. In addition to this, Darcy worked several years with severely abused and neglected children, adolescents and adults, as well as their foster and biological families.  She is adept at treating children and adolescents of terminally ill parents and those dealing with grief and loss. Her clinical experiences afforded her the opportunity to help individuals with Adjustment, Anxiety, Disruptive Behavior, Impulse Control, Mood, Personality, and Psychotic disorders.

Darcy’s enthusiasm and genuine desire to partner with clients to provide personalized care based on evidenced-based therapy techniques is apparent to all she comes in contact with.  Her treatment perspective incorporates cognitive-behavioral and family systems theories with advanced techniques such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).   She is dedicated not only to assisting others with their growth, but also the development of other clinicians and the counseling field as a whole.  Darcy is a professional member of the American Counseling Association, Illinois Counseling Association and Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association.

In her free time, Darcy enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, swimming, spending time with friends and family, and playing with her beloved Bernese Mountain Dog.
